Yay! I figured out the Cricut machine today!

I finally had time to sit down and figure out how to use the Cricut machine. I can see how buying all those cartridges can be potentially addicting! Here's what my table looked like today(see picture on the left) No, I didn't drink a Venti Starbucks all by myself. My husband split the coffee with me.

I played with it for about 3 hours today. After a while this is what happened.
(see picture on the right). It was a big old mess of letters everywhere! I was determined to finish and complete something today. I'll take pictures tomorrow of some of my finished pages.

I've been playing around with Photoshop a lot lately trying to make my photos look like polaroids and also with the digiscrapping. My husband is the guru of Photoshop. He does things so quickly with all the shortcuts you don't even know how he did it. So who do I ask when I need help on Photoshop?

I asked my husband a question and it turned into a two hour tutorial. He actually did teach Photoshop at a community college for a while. In the end though, the real question I had, he answered in one minute. One minute after the two hour tutorial!

Mission Impossible, Costco, Paradise Bakery & Kmart?

I broke down today and saw Mission Impossible 4-Ghost Protocol. It was playing at the cheap theater and today was a lunch date with my husband so I figured why not? I'm not a huge supporter of Tom Cruise films. I 'll just leave it at that....

I went and picked up all my photos from Costco including a 12x12 digiscrap page I sort of did -I used a template from theshabbyshoppe.com. Overall, I like how it turned out. I finished up the February page for my Project Life and March is winding down too. I will post some pictures of my Project Life another time.

Before the movie we went to Paradise Bakery. I have to say the Snickerdoodle cookie was so good I actually said "Mmmmm" as I was eating it. I don't do that too often so you know it was good. I don't even do that when I have my $4.00 Snickerdoodle at Disneyland. It is a tradition for my family to buy a cookie (usually a Snickerdoodle) and ride the train around the entire park as our last ride before we leave.

After the movie we had some time to kill so we went to Kmart for no particular reason. While we were there I found some cute Snoopy Easter stuff. Did I mention I am a huge Snoopy fan? When my daughter was one, I gave her a Snoopy and that Snoopy has gone everywhere with us up until last year - sadly she is outgrowing him :( While we were walking around Kmart, I noticed this lady had a very worn out looking Snoopy in her cart. I told my husband I wanted to take a picture of it because it looked so old and loved. My husband persuaded me not to do it, in fear that we I would look "kinda strange".

We ended up buying toothpaste and while we were in line the lady with the worn out Snoopy got in line behind us. I just couldn't stop myself. I told her I really liked the Snoopy in her cart and she told me her long story. The Snoopy she had in the cart use to be hers from the 1970's and she gave it to her daughter. The reason she had it with her was because her daughter's birthday is tomorrow and her daughter wanted a new shirt for her Snoopy. She had to bring Snoopy to see if any shirts would fit him. (Okay, confession time - for some reason strangers always talk to me wherever I go. You don't know how many stories I've heard while waiting in lines, in elevators, and waiting rooms. I'm not the one that usually initiates the conversation except for this one time) We continued to talk for a long time about the cute Snoopy items they had in the store and how hard it use to be to find Snoopy items (a true Snoopy fan!) I had a fun time today and who knew I would meet and find a Snoopy more worn out than my daughter's in Kmart?

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning

So what does one do during Spring break? Clean and organize! I started cleaning on Monday and apparently I wasn't done. I tackled my scrapbook supplies today. I have my sister to thank for getting me into scrapbooking. Most of the tools I have are from her. She keeps giving me things that I honestly don't even know what it's for. I was lucky enough to inherit a Cricut from her but I have yet to figure out how to use it! I can see why people have a craft room. I really want one!

After I made a huge mess in my house laying all my scrapbook stuff out I decided I needed a break. I headed over to Panda Express. I really like their Chow Mein. I think it's because of the texture and crunchiness of the dish. I really like those non-flavored crunchy foods combined in dishes: water chestnuts, cabbage, celery, etc. The Chow Mein is about the only thing my stomach can digest at Panda Express. Anyhow, I used my old Olympus camera (it's only 4 mega pixels) for this photo and I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of the photo. That Olympus camera is ancient but it really takes good photos unlike my new Fuji. My plan tomorrow is to pick up my pictures from Costco so I can finish up February for my Project Life!

Woohoo - Spring Break!

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying my Spring break! I only wish it was longer than one week! I did my annual Spring break cleaning. I went through the closets and bagged up clothes and itemized all the contents for taxes (my husband has forced me to get in the habit of doing that). I dropped off the donation and a person that works there now recognizes me. I really don't go there very often because I only clean out my closets on vacation days and summer break but the employee was telling me he knew it was me because of my car. I drive a VW Beetle. For whatever reason that type of car sticks out like a sore thumb. I want to say it's because of the "cuteness" factor but I could be wrong!?!

Since I have time to do stuff "I wish I could do but am normally too busy", I made a binder cover for my niece. She is also a teacher. This is my attempt at digiscrapping. I'm not very good at digiscrapping. It is however, just as addicting as traditional scrapping.

Just in the last 3 months I started printing my pictures for my Project Life. What I discovered is my little point and shoot camera takes really lousy pictures! What I really want to save up for is a Nikon digital SLR camera. The only problem is those cameras are HUGE! I guess you just can't have both: compact and takes good pictures. So a new camera is on my wish list right now. For all you amateur photographers, what type of camera do you own?

My first post to my brand new blog!

Last year I was introduced to "Blogs". I had no idea there were so many blogs on just about every topic. I initially started a teaching blog. While I love all the wonderful teaching blogs, blogging about teaching is not my desire. I feel like I talk about teaching all the time. If I'm going to blog about something I want it to be about something outside of teaching.

I decided to create a blog about my crafts. I love to do paper crafts however, I rarely keep any of the things I create. I usually give it away. I want some way to document my crafts. So here is my documentation - Woozellfimms Craft Blog.

Why the name Woozellfimms? Well,in college I had to create a logo for a made up store of my choice. Woozellfimms was the name of my fictional "store". Unfortunately, like most of my items from college (which was a LONG time ago) all those creations are long gone or was done the old fashion way - pen and ink. You see, when I was in college for design, there were no computers. I can only imagine how much faster and more creative I would have been if there were: computer graphics, the invention of scrapbooking, and all the scrapbook tools back then.
